I had lots of 2 1/2" leftover batik strips from various projects. They were prefect for this quilt. It is a wedding present for a good friend of my youngest son. It is done 1 1/2 weeks before the wedding-Yeah!
I have been neglecting my website. Time to get serious about this. I made a pattern for the Hands All Around Quilt show this year where I was the featured artist. The name of the quilt is City Blocks. It is an easy pattern made from 5" squares, 1" strips, and 2 1/2" strips. It can be made into any size and is a great way to use scraps-just cut them up into 5" squares. It is in my pattern tab. Have fun making it.
I have been very lucky and and currently working on a block of t he month quilt for Coats and Clark online newsletter. The mistletoe quilt is currently on their website as a prelude to the block of the month starting in 2014. Sign up and join me in making a leaf quilt. http://www.coatsandclark.com/Crafts/Sewing/Projects/Seasonal/CS0141+Mistletoe+Wall+Hanging.htm I'm so excited. One of my quilt designs is in the Jan/Feb issue of McCall's Quilting. If you like the quilt (on right) click on the magazine cover and it will take you to the article.
Keep looking there will be more designs from me which you can make and enjoy. I'm exhausted but happy after going to Market. It is always overwhelming but very inspiring. I don't know how shop owners decide what to buy with all the choices they have. The change I noticed was showing a slow change from huge prints to small patterns and loads of solids. There are also many more patterns for small projects available which is great when you don't have the time to make that large quilt. It was also great to see a lot of 20 and 30 year olds attending. They have such a different perspective on quilting and sewing than my generation. They are fearless! Back to work and organizing all the stuff I brought back. Only a few days till Quilt Market. I am just putting the binding on the last quilt. I'll have to carry it down in my suitlcase but that means when the quilt is safely in the Sizzix booth, I will have that much more room in my suitcase for fabric, notions, etc. Yeah. I don't have the capability to post while I'm at the show but I promise to put up some photos and any new ideas I might pick up
Here we go- my first post. I'm not only trying to get this website on line but I'm working to get everything done for Quilt Market. I just sent out a quilt using the new Jane Sassaman fabric. Here's a little peak.
